Triple X (XML, XPath & XSLT) with David McMahon from Ridgian (www.ridgian.co.uk)
Date: Wednesday 19 October 2005
Overview: XML, XPath and XSLT are three independently defined standards but in reality are three closely associated technologies. This presentation will talk about each of these technologies, what they were designed for, what they are used for and how they relate to each other. The presenters will illustrate the talk with many demonstrations, showing how to develop an ASP.NET Web Site with a SQL Server database that will present richly styled Web Pages without an ASP User Control or ASP Control in sight! Whilst the talk will use Visual Studio 2005 Web Express (Beta) and SQL Server 2005 (Beta) for the demonstrations, this talk is very much about a technology you can use TODAY with the technologies you currently have at your disposal. The presenters use these technologies regularly in their daily work and at the end of the talk you will realise what a fantastically powerful and exciting toolset XML, XPath and XSLT can be, and how easy it is to manipulate a simple document to obtain professional and dynamic Web Pages.

In this session you'll gain an understanding of their propagation methods, including buffer overflow exploits how to detect them and how to prevent them. You'll also get a first-hand look at rootkits, which are the sophisticated tools and techniques by which malware attempts to avoid and prevent detection.
