VBUG London: Microsoft Surface
Date: Tue 7 July to Tue 7 July 2009
Topic: VBUG London: Microsoft Surface
Overview: Microsoft Surface
Matthew Bagwell - EMC Conchango's Creative Director - will provide an overview of Microsoft's Surface.
Mircosoft’s Surface represents a new chapter in the story of interactive design and development, making multi-touch applications a practical, tangible reality. The environment itself continues to forge closer working relationships between user interface designers and developers – an exciting phenomena that sees the resurgence of the ‘creative studio’, fuelled by applications like Expression, Blend and applications created in WPF and Silverlight. Microsoft’s Surface cannot be considered in isolation of a total experience concept – its only one touch point – but even so, its full of potential and EMC Conchango is forefronting prototypes in this new exciting space to inspire clients to give it real consideration.
EMC Conchango is a world-leading consultancy that combines business, technology and creative brilliance to design and build the digital experiences people want to interact with. Our interactive studio prides itself at being at the forefront of innovation in interface technologies to create experiences that and both practical and beautiful to use. The agency has a long-standing heritage in the UK, working with many of the world’s leading brands. It’s continued success resulted in its acquisition by EMC Corporation in 2008 and now it enjoys the widest global theatre as a playground for its thinking and work.

Topic: When agile goes bad: how to stay calm and move forward
Overview: With applying agile methodologies comes changes in many aspects of delivering software. And with any change will come a time when something fails. How to keep everyone calm? Sebastien has been a passionate code monkey since his early teens, and has experienced agile first hand, as a developer and as a scrum master, for several years. He’s the director of London-based Caffeine IT, a consulting / contracting company, and writes open-source software in his spare time.
